FAQ: Are Wooden Tent Poles Strong?

Sure, real wooden Tent poles are beautiful to look at, but are they strong and safe enough for my event?

The answer is a resounding YES when looking at authentic Tipi poles! Here’s why:

The Nordic Spruce poles are sourced from forests in the far north. Up above the Arctic Circle, the growing season is shorter, because summer only lasts a few weeks. You know how you can count the rings on a tree to determine its age?  Those rings are growth rings, and a tree gets one each year. The growth rings on our spruce poles are very tight, because of the short growing season. That makes them extremely strong! (Our building crew will also tell you the poles are very heavy!)

The poles are strength tested, too. We can confidently say that our wooden poles are just as strong as equal size aluminum poles. And wooden poles are so much more handsome to look at. Our tipis are rated to withstand a windstorm up to 60+ miles per hour! A white plastic tent can’t handle those breezes!
